The 2026 Business After 5 events got off to a fantastic start with a great turnout at La Bull Café & Bar in Bulls.
Those present were lucky enough to get a taste of the incredi-bull food they have on offer. They served the most delecta-bull starters, followed by their wood-fired pizzas, all of which went down a treat with a cold drink on a warm, sunny evening in their outdoor space.
It’s safe to say we were all blown away by Lyndon’s words and wisdom. He delivered a speech full of valua-bull insights – a true reflection of someone deeply connected to the community, genuinely passionate, with a great sense of humour and a knack for finding the positives in any situation.
He emphasised the strength of small-town relationships, where local businesses actively support and generate work for one another. While the Rangitīkei district covers a large area, it is made up of many small towns and communities. We couldn’t agree more that strong community support, alongside collaboration between businesses across the district, benefits not only business owners but also the communities they are part of. Business Rangitīkei is dedicated to supporting local businesses through partnerships and a strong community. By fostering connections within our district’s business community, we aim to help businesses succeed today while building long-term success for the future.
Like many in hospitality and other sectors, they are navigating rising costs, particularly for food, gas, and power. Speaking openly about this fostered a sense of solidarity and helped normalise the challenges business owners are facing.
Lyndon spoke about how trade is influenced by a wide range of factors, including the RNZAF Base at Ohakea, tourism, locals, events happening both locally and around the country, and even roadworks along State Highways. Many of these factors affect businesses in different ways, and it was interesting to hear this perspective.
